The Hatton Garden Job

Client: BBC News

Date: January 2016

In early 2016 I was contacted by producer Sitala Peek at BBC News to illustrate the story of the Hatton Garden safe deposit burglary. Over the Easter weekend of 2015, four elderly men stole a total of £14 million of gold and jewellery of which only £4.3 million has been recovered. It is the largest burglary in British criminal history.
The culprits were in court at the time so I had to be careful to only include information that had been proven and also not to make heroes of the four protagonists.

I got a very good response to the work both from people who enjoyed this approach to depicting the news and from friends and family of the police officers who had worked the case. Due to this response I was permitted by the BBC to make a limited edition print of the illustrations.
