Nelson is a graphic novel anthology telling the story of the life of Nel Baker from her birth in 1968 to the present day. Each yearly snapshot of Nel’s life was written by the artist based on the chapters before it creating a unique relay-race of graphic storytelling, all kept on track by editors Rob Davis and Woodrow Phoenix. The overall effect is both a compelling life story set against decades of British history and cultural changes and a showcase of the myriad of talent in the British comics scene. Nelson was nominated for an Eisner Award in 2012.

My chapter is set in 1994, the days where grunge gave way to Britpop. We visit Nel at age 26 reconnecting with her school friend Tabs, and I introduced the shy and smitten Francis.
